'I believe that birth is normal but it does require preparation. By taking responsibility for your birth means nourishing yourself, being happy and well rested. It means becoming informed & knowledgeable about your birth and your choices.
It means going inwards & facing fears, hand-picking your birth support and trusting the ancient process of birth'
Hello and congratulations on your pregnancy!
My name is Katherine, although I'm mostly known as Kaz.
I am a mother of two, an NCT Antenatal Teacher, experienced Doula and Doula mentee who is passionate about supporting families in their choices in the childbirth year.
I believe that with the right mind-set, support and birthing preferences you can make birth an incredible, enriching life changing experience.
I can offer you the continuous support that can sometimes lack in our medical system. I will support you and your family throughout your pregnancy, birth and your postnatal period offering you unbiased, up to date and honest information.
I will support you to discover your innate skills that enable you to make empowered decisions through informed decision making, not through fear.
You will find that my Birth Package is different from some of the others you might find. It has come from many years of serving women and their families, giving my undivided attention, and working to their needs and being a consistent person in their lives. We form strong bonds over our time together and we eat a lot of cake.
Know your Doula!
Ever since a copy of Ina May Gaskins book 'Spiritual Midwifery' fell into my hands many many moons ago I have embarked on a fascinating educational & spiritual journey into the world of pregnancy and childbirth. I feel blessed to work in my true vocation.
I am a Antenatal Teacher and the Volunteer parent support coordinator for the Frome Branch of the NCT (National Childbirth Trust) I also write articles for their magazine, sit on the committee & help with event organisation and fund-raising.
Through Frome NCT, I facilitate a free pregnancy support group called Great Expectations, it is a popular group, and I have welcomed hundreds of women and families a weekly basis into my home. We have varied topics and guest speakers, we drink a lot of tea and eat a lot of cake!
Great expectations is a real highlight of my week.
Aside from my birth work, I am a mother of two who lives in the countryside near Frome. I love nature, reading and walking.
I resonate with 'Faith Eliminates Fear' Michel Odent,
And the words of a brave women-
'I am not scared, I was born to do this'- Joan of Arc.
