Vaginal Birth After Caesarean: The VBAC Handbook
ISBN-13: 978-1905177240
Women are over four times more likely to have a caesarean birth now than they were thirty years ago and eight times more likely than they were fifty years ago. One of the main reasons that the rate is so high is that women are not encouraged to give birth vaginally once they have had a caesarean despite there being no evidence of the benefit of repeat caesareans for mother or child. Aimed at women who have had a caesarean or repeat caesareans, "Vaginal Birth After Caesarean (VBAC)" provides suggestions for constructive ways to achieve vaginal birth when this is the right option for mother and baby. As well as detailed explanations of all the pros and cons of VBAC, the book contains several real-life birth stories, a comprehensive glossary of terms and essential information for parents-to-be.

Being Dad UK - Pregnancy & Birth [DVD]
BEING DAD covers conception through birth (and everything in between) from a man's perspective. Hear from both real dads and experts across the country about the reality of becoming a father, including all the hot topics: finance, sex, birth, labour and what not to say to your partner. Engaging, revealing, entertaining and at times extraordinarily emotional, BEING DAD is the perfect tool for first-time-parents who want to be better prepared, more relaxed and inspired about pregnancy, birth and parenthood.

The Father's Home Birth Handbook
ISBN-13: 978-1905177509
Leah Hazard's exploration of what it's like for a father at a homebirth is well-referenced and provides answers to many of the questions a man might have about the homebirth choice. I love that she brings together the voices of men from all walks of life, and reveals how life changing the birth of their baby was for them, in the sanctity of their own home. Although primarily written for men, it's invaluable as a resource for all planning a homebirth.

*Coping with Birth Trauma and Postnatal Depression
ISBN-13: 978-1847090393
With today's high expectations of motherhood, there is still a taboo about not loving your baby at birth, or finding some aspects of motherhood boring and miserable. Postnatal depression (PND) affects around one in six new mothers, while it's estimated that up to 200,000 women each year may feel traumatised by childbirth, with feelings of fear, guilt, anxiety, and symptoms such as flashbacks, nightmares and persistent memories of birth.

This book explores how to cope with such feelings, and how to make a successful and happy adjustment to motherhood even when it doesn't come naturally at first.

*The Politics of Breastfeeding: When Breasts are Bad for Business
ISBN-13: 978-1905177165
A heavy read but fantastic although harrowing facts.

"The Politics of Breastfeeding" exposes infant feeding as one of the most important public health issues of our time. Every thirty seconds a baby dies from infections due to a lack of breastfeeding and the use of bottles, artificial milks and other risky products. In her powerful book Gabrielle Palmer describes how big business uses subtle techniques to pressure parents to use alternatives to breastmilk. The infant feeding product companies' thirst for profit systematically undermines mothers' confidence in their ability to breastfeed their babies.
